Guangzhou, China – 31 May 2026 — Peter Helis, International Executive Representative for Invest Guangzhou and Chief Advisor to Guangzhou Huangpu District, hosted German Federal Minister for Economic Affairs and Energy Katherina Reiche and her senior delegation during their visit to the Greater Bay Area (GBA).
The delegation included global executives from BASF, ZEISS Group, Airbus, and other leading German companies. Their program focused on understanding how the GBA has become one of the world’s most integrated and innovation‑driven economic regions, with Guangzhou playing a central role in advanced manufacturing, new energy, and next‑generation mobility.
A key stop on the visit was EHang (NASDAQ: EH) in Guangzhou Huangpu. The delegation observed how the district’s industrial ecosystem accelerates frontier technologies from R&D to commercial deployment, particularly in autonomous aerial mobility. The visit highlighted the GBA’s ability to combine policy support, industrial depth, and rapid execution — a combination that continues to attract sustained interest from German industry.
The engagement also reflected the broader trajectory of Guangzhou within the GBA. As the region’s manufacturing and industrial anchor, Guangzhou provides the scale, supply‑chain resilience, and regulatory environment that enable emerging technologies to reach market readiness. Huangpu District, in particular, has become a reference point for international delegations seeking clarity on China’s innovation landscape.
Peter Helis emphasised that the visit demonstrated the value of long‑term bridge‑building between European and Chinese industrial ecosystems. Over recent years, his work has focused on creating practical connections, aligning perspectives, and enabling senior‑level cooperation across sectors. The visit marked a fitting conclusion to this chapter, as he transitions to supporting global organisations navigating the next phase of China’s evolving innovation environment.
The delegation’s visit further strengthened Huangpu District’s position as a key destination for international government and business leaders exploring opportunities in one of the world’s most dynamic economic regions.
