Guangzhou, China – November 26, 2025 – Amid shifting global dynamics under Trump 2.0 and Europe's search for its role in the world, Guangzhou welcomed the Pioneer China Expedition 2025, a high-level delegation of 25 business leaders from Germany and Austria. Organized by Media Pioneer Publishing AG and led by China expert Frank Sieren, the 10-day expedition (November 18-27, 2025) spanned Hong Kong, Beijing, Shanghai, and Shenzhen, focusing on behind-the-scenes insights into China's economy and politics as German relations with China realign.

Peter Helis, Chief Advisor to Guangzhou Huangpu District, welcomed the group to Guangzhou and organized immersive visits to innovative sites, including EHang (urban air mobility pioneer), WeRide (autonomous driving leader), the Guangzhou Auto Show Media Day, and the Guangzhou GAC AION factory (showcasing advanced electric vehicle production). These experiences highlighted Guangzhou's position as a hub for cutting-edge technology and manufacturing.

A key highlight was Helis's keynote speech delivered during a scenic cruise on the Pearl River. In his address, Helis explained the Greater Bay Area (GBA) and Guangzhou's contributions to China's success model, emphasizing long-term planning, innovation-driven growth, and adaptive governance that have propelled the nation's economic transformation. "Guangzhou exemplifies how strategic vision and execution create global opportunities," Helis noted. "By sharing these insights, we encourage honest dialogue to turn admiration into collaborative partnerships, moving beyond fears to mutual benefits."

The delegation, including notable figures from HSBC Germany, representatives from Robert Bosch GmbH, and executives from Media Pioneer Publishing AG, engaged in thoughtful Q&A, expressing admiration for China's achievements while discussing balanced approaches to competition.

This visit underscores Guangzhou's commitment to fostering international understanding and business ties, building on the expedition's success in bridging perspectives.
