Guangzhou / Huangpu, China – March 26, 2026 – Sixteen of Germany’s most senior media executives visited Guangzhou and the Huangpu District today as part of the Chefrunde Executives Study Tour to Shenzhen and the Greater Bay Area.

The high-level delegation — including decision-makers from Axel Springer/Bild, Funke Media Group, ARD/HR, Die Zeit, t-online, dpa and other leading German media houses — was personally hosted and guided by Peter Helis, Chief Advisor Invest Guangzhou / Huangpu District.

Highlights of the day:

  • Exclusive visit to EHang (Huangpu): The group received a detailed tour of the world’s leading eVTOL manufacturer, including a look at the EH216-S autonomous air taxi and the possibility of test flights for selected participants.

  • Visit to WeRide (Huangpu): The delegation toured the global leader in Level-4 autonomous driving technology, which operates 24/7 driverless robotaxi services in the district. The visit culminated in a working lunch in the WeRide Tower.

  • Keynote & Q&A by Peter Helis: During lunch at WeRide, Peter Helis delivered an in-depth presentation on “Greater Bay Area – Opportunities and Developments with Focus on Guangzhou & Huangpu”, followed by an open discussion on innovation ecosystems, new mobility, AI, and investment opportunities in the region.

The program was tightly coordinated by Peter Helis, who also handled all advance arrangements with both companies and accompanied the group throughout the day. Despite a very compact schedule (the delegation had to return to Shenzhen for an internal AHK appointment in the late afternoon), the visit delivered high-impact insights and direct exposure to two of China’s most advanced technology players in the fields of autonomous mobility and urban air mobility.

Peter Helis commented: “I was delighted to welcome this influential group to Huangpu and to showcase the impressive progress being made here in new mobility and smart city technologies. The exchange with such senior German media leaders was extremely valuable on both sides.”

The visit continues Peter Helis’ series of high-level German delegations to the Greater Bay Area in recent months, following successful programs with the OAV, The Pioneer China Expedition and the Media Forum China Germany.
