About Peter Helis
Peter Helis has spent over 20 years mastering the "Art of the China Deal" — turning complex opportunities into tangible results across sales, policy, and investment in Greater China.
A SOAS Chinese Studies graduate, until June 2026 he was the only foreign expert ever appointed at Director level within the Chinese government. Since 2019, as International Executive Representative for Invest Guangzhou and Chief Advisor to Guangzhou Huangpu District — a core engine of the Greater Bay Area — he has built deep trust with senior officials and driven global investment attraction, innovation policy, and high-value FDI in biomedicine, new energy, advanced manufacturing, and high-tech sectors.
Fluent in English, Mandarin, Cantonese, and German, Peter previously led the German and European Chambers in South China as General Manager and Vice Chair. He is a sought-after keynote speaker and master of ceremonies at high-profile forums including the Hamburg Summit, Guangzhou Investment Summit (first foreign host in Mandarin), and the International Forum on China Reform. I advise organisations navigating China’s market, policy environment, and regulatory landscape, with a focus on the Greater Bay Area. My work draws on decades of experience in South China, leadership roles in the German and European Chamber, and seven years inside the Guangzhou Huangpu system.

The emphasis is practical: cross‑cultural communication, strategic clarity, and navigating China’s business environment with confidence.
