Everyone wants to increase the traffic to their website, whether you own a business, a non-profit, or just an interesting and unique blog. But the first step in increasing traffic is knowing how much traffic you’re already getting — so you can measure success from a baseline. To measure baseline website traffic, there are a number of free and fairly inexpensive website traffic tracking tools like online survey software tools. If you’re looking for a tool to track your website traffic, give the following tools a try.
Google Analytics: This is the big one. In fact these guys virtually invested the idea of tracking web traffic, and the best part is that it’s all free. All you have to do is paste a small piece of code on your website and Google will track the numbers for you in an easy-to-read interface. Not only will it track overall views, but it will break down the numbers into categories, like unique visitors, repeat visitors, and location, and it will even give you stats on what web browser your visitors are using and much more.
Clicky: Clicky is another great website tracking tool. Clicky is free if you have less than 3,000 website visitors a day, but fees increase slightly once you start to creep over that number. Clicky is popular and will offer you many of the same features as Google Analytics, but it also offers you real-time stats, dashboard customization, and Twitter tracking, which can be a great plus.
StatCounter: This is another popular site tracker that offers many of the same features already available in the other two tools already covered. However, StatCounter offers you many more choices and a more detailed breakdown of your website traffic stats, giving you more information to work with as you move forward with marketing campaigns. But this extra services comes at a price, if you have over 500 website visitors a day, and it goes up steeply from there.
