Don’t be sure that everything on the Internet is free. The Internet has carved itself out a niche as being one of the few places that you can obtain things for free. Everything from photos to movies to books and free samples of some of the hottest products on the market make it so that many people are scrambling to get the next free item. The issue is that with a free item, nothing is ever quite what it seems.
The people who are offering free items, whether it is a big-name website or a small website you have never heard of before, you have to know that there is always something behind their ploy.
The usual issue with free software is the amount of spyware that they load into the software. What makes spyware so effectively transported is that it tends to be small in size and therefore when attached to a file, it’s hard to know it’s even there. The monitoring of the computer is a smart move for these companies. They get to go and see where you live online, and where you do your business. It’s smart business for them, but it could mean a lot of money from your pockets.
While one small piece of spyware might not bother you, when they begin to add up, there will be a lot of issues with how the computer is running. It’s not something that anyone would envy, but it’s something that happens.
The best way to prevent this from happening is not to let happen at all. Keep the downloads to trusted websites only. Instead of always trying to get something for free, use your prepaid card and actually buy quality software and downloads. If you haven’t visited there for more than an hour, or more than 20 times, then it’s okay to go ahead and shop there, but just be weary when you get there. You never know what kind of spyware could be lurking in the shadows.
