If you’re the type of person who enjoys going to funny sites such as Zug and People of Walmart, you might have noticed that sites such as that are havens for trolls. A troll, in this context, is a person who perceives that their role in life is to shock and offend other people whenever they possibly can. People like this have an almost obsessive desire to seize the attention of others in the most negative ways that they can. And by doing so, they can also become extremely popular. Sites like that are haunted by the likes of Popanator, a sort of “anti hero” for its (no one is sure of its gender) trolling activities.
But even vile, negative attention grabbers like the Popanator can get a lot of traffic. The funny part is, they do so by using the same basic principle that a lot of different bloggers use. With a traditional blogger for everything from ebooks to online casino games, they can garner a massive number of additional readers (a decent number of whom will turn into subscribers) through posting high quality content to other people’s blogs. In the cases of the internet trolls of the world, their trolling activities can lead a whole lot of people (who like what they say, in spite of themselves) visiting their native sites. Imagine an internet troll’s cave becoming popular!
While that might be something of a crazy thought (and it might even be a little on the scary side), the fact is that guest posting is a highly successful method of getting more traffic to your blog. It almost does not even matter if your entire purpose with your blogging efforts is to infuriate the people of the world who do not have much of a sense of humor. Those people will either come around or they won’t. As for the folks who have a sense of humor and realize what you are doing (otherwise known as your niche), they get it.
