A web blast is a form of direct marketing that sends a linked ad to your client’s email. It should have the look and feel of a print ad, like something you would find in a magazine or newspaper, but it has the advantage of being able to send your customers directly to your website with a simple mouse click.
Focus your message. You’re not trying to sell your company. You’re sending this to a list of current customers, so you don’t need to solicit new business from them. Instead, use this as an opportunity to inform your customers about any sales or specials you have coming up, or introduce them to new products or services. You can also use this to offer your customers a loyalty discount on their next transaction.
Keep your text simple and informative. You’ll want a large, attention grabbing headline, but the rest of the text should be supportive of the idea you’re trying to get across to your customers. You don’t want to drown your message in a bunch of fluffy text. You might even want to use an open source software like Audacity to add an audio message to your blast.
Make it pretty. Web blasts are great for sending big, beautiful pictures of happy people using your product. Choose one image as the focal point, then add a few smaller images. This will allow you to feature several products, while still showcasing one major item. All of these images serve as teasers that are meant to entice the reader to visit your website.
Keep your file a reasonable size. Most email services don’t allow files over 10mgs, not that you should be sending a file that large to begin with. Try to keep it under 1000kgs, and remember to size your images to 72dpi. If you need to go larger, think about using a peer to peer client like Amule in order to share your marketing strategies with clients.
Don’t forget your contact information. Make sure you always include your company’s name and logo, a phone number or email address, your website, and the physical address where you’re located.
